Navarathri 5th Day – Skandamata Pooja
The fifth day of Navaratri is dedicated to Goddess Skandamata, the mother of Lord Muruga (Skanda/Kartikeya). She represents love, wisdom, and strength. Devotees believe that worshipping Skandamata brings blessings of both the Goddess and her son.
On this day, pooja is performed with yellow flowers, fruits, turmeric, and betel leaves. Devotees chant Durga Suktam or Skandamata slokas, and offer special prasadam like jaggery pongal or sweet fruits. It is believed that praying to Skandamata removes obstacles, grants wisdom, and ensures family harmony.
